How it works

Race day is getting close — every week of prep still counts, even a short one.

One loop, two, or three. Greg adapts to your goal.

The course runs around the old town. Tell Greg how many laps you're aiming for: he sets your sessions accordingly, and adjusts if you change your mind.

2.34 km

1 lap

Your first Escalade, or getting back into it after a long break. Goal: finish running, smiling included.

Goal: finish running
4.83 km

2 laps

You already run a bit. We're aiming for a steady pace, including on the second climb.

Goal: a steady pace
7.32 km

3 laps

You want a time. Race pace, hill intervals and a taper the final week.

Goal: a finishing time

What if you ran it in costume?

The Marmite is Saturday evening's costumed run: people come for the atmosphere as much as for the time. Greg's got you covered for that too: finish in good shape, cape and all.

And on Sunday, we smash the chocolate marmite. You'll have earned it.

A coach who follows your real week.

Every session you do (or miss) adjusts what comes next. Busy week: Greg eases off. You're flying: he pushes a bit. And you can talk to him any time.

Greg

Before you start

I've never run before. Is this for me?

Yes. Start with one loop: Greg begins with run-walk sessions and ramps up gradually. If he judges the goal too ambitious for the time left, he'll tell you.

I'm signing up late, say end of October.

Greg calibrates to the weeks that remain. Less time means a more cautious goal, not double the load.

I'm running the Marmite in costume. Does that change anything?

Tell Greg in the chat: he'll keep some margin on pace and warn you about warming up in the cold.

Is race registration included?

No. Registration is done through the race organisation. UpGreg takes care of your coaching.

Can I get it in the iPhone or Android app?

No: the Escalade offer is only available on this page. Once signed up, you'll find Greg in the app as usual.

I'm already a Greg+ subscriber.

The offer is reserved for new subscribers. Your current Greg+ already has you covered for the Escalade: just tell him it's your goal.

What happens after the 3 months?

Your Greg+ subscription starts the day after the 3 months end, at the rate shown in the offer box above. You can cancel it before then, from your profile: you'll never be charged, and your 3 months stay yours.

On December 5, you'll climb to the old town with your coach.
